It’s faster from inside Torch: Settings → Delete account. Same result, no email round trip.
What gets deleted
- Your profile — name, photo, headline, bio, company, links, and the professional profile Torch derived from them.
- Your sign-in credential. The account can no longer be logged into, and you’re signed out on every device.
- Your signals and drafts are closed, and upcoming event RSVPs are cancelled, so nobody is left waiting on you.
- Your membership application and any lead record we hold for your address, including everything you wrote in them.
- Personalized data Torch generated about you — match history inputs, behavioral summaries, and archived weekly briefs.
- Your email address is removed and cannot be recovered.
What we keep, and why
A small amount of data outlives the account. We’d rather say so plainly than let you find out later.
- Other people’s copies of shared conversations. Messages you sent, introductions you were part of, and event rosters you appeared on are also the other person’s record. Deleting your account does not reach into theirs.
- Billing and tax records.Payment history is retained where law requires it. Deleting your account does not cancel a paid subscription — email us and we’ll handle it.
- Terms-of-service acceptances. An immutable legal record that a given account accepted a given version.
- An anonymized deletion record. Proof the request was made and honored. It contains no personal information.
How long it takes
Immediately. When you confirm on the linked page, the deletion runs right then — there is no queue and no waiting period. Backups containing your data are overwritten on their own rotation within 30 days.
